The Digicel Foundation launches its annual report for the 2023-2024 fiscal year
Port-au-Prince, HAITI – August 8, 2024: The Digicel Foundation launched its latest annual report on Monday, July 29, summarizing its achievements across its four main programs: school construction, professional development, grants, and employee engagement.
This recent publication highlights the accomplishments of the Foundation during its 17 years of existence, particularly noting:
- A total investment of 87.2 million US dollars.
- Initiatives impacting over 1.3 million people.
- The construction of 193 schools across the country, benefiting more than 62,000 students.
- The funding of 380 community projects.
- Support for 66 social enterprises through the PARCCSEQ.
In line with its vision of contributing to the strengthening of the education sector in Haiti, the Digicel Foundation inaugurated three new schools: the École Nationale Congréganiste Notre-Dame du Perpétuel Secours de Latibolière, the École Nationale Congréganiste Saint Michel de Charpentier, and the Institution Mixte Notre-Dame de l’Assomption in Turgeau. These constructions amount to a total of 39 classrooms, benefiting several thousand students in the Grande-Anse, South, and West departments.
Furthermore, more than sixty establishments continue to benefit from the Foundation's support under the PARCCSEQ (Project to Support the Strengthening of School Communities for Quality Education). In addition to administrative and pedagogical support, to date, 66 social enterprises are funded to help sustain the operational costs of these schools.
The Foundation has maintained its grants program with regular funding from its various partners, including institutions such as Nos Petits Frères et Sœurs, HELP, and Special Olympics. It is proud of the positive outcomes from the projects completed in the sixth edition of Konbit Pou Chanjman and is eager to see the results of the 18 grants awarded for the seventh edition.
Despite the ongoing socio-political turmoil in the country, the Digicel Foundation continues its Employee Engagement program. This year, around ten volunteer activities were carried out, including the rehabilitation of public spaces, the installation of solar streetlights, blood drives, and gift distributions, among others.
"Our latest report is a symbol of hope because the numerous achievements it contains reflect the communities' ongoing determination to unite their efforts to improve their living conditions. Every testimony inspires us, every image is a demonstration of hope. I am delighted to see that the Digicel Foundation has been able to contribute to these accomplishments, particularly in the areas of education and community grants," says Sophia Stransky, Executive Director of the Digicel Foundation.
