École Presbytérale Père Antoine Adrien becomes the 194th construction project of the Digicel Foundation
Port-au-Prince, Haiti – September 27, 2024: The school community of Sourcailles, in Furcy, received the keys this Friday to the new buildings of École Presbytérale Père Antoine Adrien, located in the Kenscoff municipality.
With nearly 200 schools built across the country, the Digicel Foundation is once again proud to contribute to Haiti's educational infrastructure. Over its 17 years of existence, the Foundation has focused its efforts on building schools in communities with a significant need for educational support. École Presbytérale Père Antoine Adrien, located in the third communal section of Kenscoff, is one of the beneficiaries of this ambitious program. The project, valued at USD 242,897, includes the construction of four classrooms, an administrative office, a sanitation block, a kitchen, a storage room, and a retaining wall. It also includes the repair of a six-classroom building constructed by the Foundation in 2015. This new collaboration aims to address the urgent needs of this community.
At the same time, the Digicel Foundation emphasizes that other construction projects were launched during the same period, including the Institution Mixte Notre-Dame de l'Assomption in Turgeau, which was symbolically inaugurated on March 28. This project includes a new three-story building with nine classrooms, a playground, and sanitary facilities, with a total cost of USD 471,707.
Moreover, the Foundation takes this opportunity to inform the public, particularly the residents of Cap-Haïtien, of the significant progress made on the College Jean XXIII – Annex. The construction of the 12 classrooms is moving at a rapid pace, and we hope to inaugurate it by the end of this year.
Simultaneously, the Foundation is continuing its work at Nos Petits Frères et Sœurs in Kenscoff, to provide the institution with a school and a therapy center for people with special needs.
The Digicel Foundation remains firmly convinced that education is one of the most reliable ways to ensure a better future for Haiti. Every trained student gains the ability to positively influence change. We rely on the Furcy community to preserve this legacy for the benefit of current and future generations.
"Now more than ever, we need to support one another and invest in our communities. It is thanks to the loyalty and trust of its customers that Digicel is able to fulfill its social commitments. Together, we are bringing educational and community projects to life, thus creating a lasting impact," says Sophia Stransky, Executive Director of the Digicel Foundation.
