Digicel Foundation and INAMI Management Services Partner for Major Hurricane Beryl Relief Efforts
Kingston, Jamaica – July 19, 2024 – In the wake of the devastation by Hurricane Beryl, the south coast of Jamaica is facing a challenging path to recovery. Demonstrating resilience and solidarity, the Digicel Foundation has partnered with INAMI Management Services to deliver much-needed support. With a generous donation of $500,000, INAMI Management Services has enabled the Foundation to procure essential items for their hurricane relief efforts.
“Given INAMI’s focus on telecommunications and solar resilience, we witness firsthand the areas most affected. Our company, through our dedicated staff, believes in taking meaningful action for the community in times of need. It is simply the right thing to do,” stated Donovan Betancourt, Managing Director of INAMI Management Services.
Betancourt emphasised INAMI’s strong culture of community support. “Beyond these relief efforts, we engage in numerous outreach programmes, such as supporting the Michail Betancourt School in Portland, an institution for children with disabilities. For over eight years we have supported the school, and we currently provide two meals daily to the students.”
INAMI Management Services also sponsored the recent ‘Follow the Trail, Invest in Braille’ campaign, led by the Digicel Foundation. Their contribution enabled the Foundation to supply 107 Braille machines to the Salvation Army School for the Blind.
Last week, the Digicel Foundation, in partnership with the JPS Foundation and Flow Foundation, visited St. Elizabeth and Clarendon to deliver relief to residents.
“The partnership with INAMI, JPS, and Flow highlights the power of collaboration in addressing the urgent needs of our people,” said Charmaine Daniels, CEO of Digicel Foundation. “We also extend our gratitude to the Vashi Khemlani Foundation for their donation of essential items.”
“The Digicel Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to support and uplift communities across Jamaica. We are committed to ensuring that no one gets left behind, through our portfolio areas and partnerships,” Daniels added.
